Gründung des Unternehmens durch den Schreinermeister Emil Schütt im Jahre 1929 mit Sitz in der Bachstraße (heute Gathe). Nach Zerstörung der Geschäftsräume durch Bombardierung kurz vor Kriegsende Eröffnung der neuen Geschäftsräume am Platz der Republik und Eintritt von Sohn Hans Schütt in der 2. Generation. 1968 übernahm dann Burghard Schütt und Ehefrau Monika Schütt in der 3. Generation das Geschäft. Durch Expansion des Unternehmens erfolgt der Umzug zum heutigen Firmensitz Paradestraße 72. Tochter Sabine Schütt ist seit 1996 in der 4. Generation im Unternehmen tätig.
Am 01.07.2016 hat sie das Familienunternehmen als Geschäftsinhaberin von ihren Eltern übernommen, seitdem befinden sich Best´attungen Mattar und Bestattungen Schütt in einem Haus in der Paradestraße 72 in Wuppertal.
